Our fast approaching Summer Concert in Windermere means our concert soloists are getting ready.
We will be playing John Rutter’s Suite Antique with 6 different soloists, so here’s a little bit about them!
Movement 1 – Prelude
This is Beth, she has been with Flutes and Co. for almost 6 years now. She loves the lyrical style to this movement and the high tune. Beth is off to University next year, so we are sad to be losing such a talented young player.
Movement 2 – Ostinato
This is Laura who has played with us for around 2 years. She has been a staple piccolo player in the orchestra but loves playing all flutes. She loves this movement because it is so lively and has a jolly feel to it.
Movement 3 – Aria
Movement 3 is being played by Connie who has only been in Flutes and Co for a few years. The Aria is very much in the style of Bach and is a very lyrical and slow movement.
Movement 4 – Waltz
This is Bess who is playing Movement 4 of Suite Antique. Bess has played with us for many years now and is going on to study music next year at University. Bess is a great Jazz Flute player and has been teaching us lots of tricks for another piece we will be playing in July.
Movement 5 – Chanson
This is Ellen who has been playing with us for 8 years in total! She is playing the Chanson movement which is a lyrical song and can’t wait to play it in Windermere in a few weeks time.
Movement 6 – Rondeau
Meet Lily who is playing the Rondeau. Lily has been with is for almost 2 years and is looking forward to the challenge of playing the Rondeau because of its unusual time signature.
Make sure you come to our summer concert on 8th July to hear all our soloists perform!
