Good Grant News!

We have just received a cheque of £500 from the Grassroots Grants Fund which is managed by Cumbria Community Foundation.

This money will help go towards the purchase of a portable carrying case for our contrabass flute which, at the moment, is lugged around in a very heavy flight case.

Cumbria Community Foundation was set up in 1999 and has established a grants programme.  It has helped more than 2500 Cumbria based charities and community groups who have received over £16million in grants.  Funds are distributed on behalf of a wide range of donors who want their charitable giving to be accessible to local charities: www.ukcharities.org

Latest news on fundraising

Our Christmas busking in Kendal this year – (the first outside gig for our contrabass!) –  has raised nearly £120 for our funds.

Thanks to all those wonderful players  - both current and past players of Flutes & Co – who didn’t mind how many times they played Rudolf the Red nosed Reindeer(?) and survived the perils of being smoked out by a thoughtless sedentary cigarette puffer!

Comments from latest Concert

‘….hearing them playing orchestral music which had been specially arranged for their instruments, you quickly forgot they were all flute players; with a wide range of pitch and with such a rich blend of colour and tone they produced a truly memorable orchestral sound….. indeed you felt the repertoire might almost have been written specially for them!’

……..’Beautiful playing on Saturday.  Best I’ve ever heard you: fluid and dynamic but with lots of feeling too.  Great stuff’.

Did you miss us? Panic not! Luckily for you here you can hear a snatch of our Haydn’s Allegretto from his ‘Le Soir’ Symphony or Tallis’s Theme in the Third Mode arranged for 3 basses and a contrabass.
