As you might have noticed things have changed around here; we have a new-look web site (should be easier for us to keep it up to date) and a new section for photos.

The contrabass flute has arrived!

After many months of fundraising, we were finally able to purchase a Contrabass flute from Eva Kingma, which we received at the start of January and have used in two of our rehearsals. This gigantic flute means that Suzanne has to come even earlier to set up and our practice room is a little crowded these days, but I am sure that everyone would agree that it was worth every penny and will be good to show off in our concerts in March!

Contrabass flute appeal

With a routine income of around £2000 per year, we have raised £13,000 in the past 8 years for the purchase of 6 of the larger sized flutes - 3 altos and 3 basses.
Now we are fundraising for an even larger flute (c.£10,000), a contrabass flute. This beast of a flute with 9′ of tubing has a unique sound as well as novel appearance - of educational and inspirational benefit to both its players and its audiences!
Not surprisingly, at this cost, once purchased, Flutes & Co will be one of the few ensembles in the North West that own such an instrument.
